Ahh! We just hosted our first webinar and here’s how it went!

We are so thankful to everyone that was able to attend the webinar and if you signed up and couldn’t make it, we get it! We had people from all over the country and even other countries, how cool!

Some of our audience have been loyal followers since we started and some people were brand new so we took a minute to explain our story. We understand as art teachers, it can be lonely, especially if you’re the only one in your district or no one teaches the same grade levels as you. Hayley has been in this position before and it was hard, but even when you’re on a team, it can still be hard because you’re the only one in your building. That’s why we wanted to help other art teachers NOT feel that way any more.

A big focus for the webinar was setting up a curriculum because we noticed a huge need for that. Unlike classroom teachers, we are often expected to create our own. We discussed two ways to go about this:

  1. Starting from scratch
  2. Revamping or adjusting your current curriculum (because you like it but maybe don’t love it)

Some things to keep in mind are the demographics of your students, what interests you, what interests your students, etc. If you’re excited, they’ll be excited! Attendees received resources to help them set up or adjust their curriculum.

Moving forward, we hope to build an art educator community that is there to help you when you need it. We don’t claim to be experts but we have learned a lot in being the art team leaders in our district. Our hope is to lead you through the challenges you may be facing and be able to problem solve together with the community. We will have more information coming soon, so if you aren’t already signed up to receive our emails, make sure you do so to stay up to date!
