Catching Students Up in Art Class

Episode 30 – Podcast Recap

Any teacher who teaches their subject on a rotation schedule can probably relate to this episode. Not seeing your students one day means you don’t see them for another entire week! The class can get behind other classes and things get thrown off. When an individual student misses a class, maybe they are sick on the day they come to you, it can be a challenge to get them caught up but also keep the rest of the class going.

We discuss how we use strategies like slowing down instructional steps, creating enrichment activities, and using peer helpers. Other strategies might be more integrated into your planning. Looking ahead to see when and how students can move forward, hold back, or you can teach things in a different way to coordinate those absent students or classes that are behind or ahead of others.

There are many ways to look at this topic and many ways of dealing with it. Listen in to the whole episode to hear it all!

Keep blending,
