Episode 9: Podcast Recap
During teacher appreciation week, we thought it would be fun to discuss times we felt “appreciated” and some solutions to those issues.
Many people just assume we color all day or assume our job is sunshine and rainbows all the time. But as an educator you know that’s not always the case and even some times other educators don’t understand what it’s like. We still have a degree, we still have a license and have similar/same expectations as classroom teachers.
Often, meetings aren’t always super relevant for us. We constantly are thinking during those meetings what can we take away from this, what can we get out of this, how can we spin this to work for us. Of course there are some that just do not benefit you because it’s more for the good of the group. If you feel this happens often, reach out to your admin about how to make that time more meaningful. Supportive admin will work with you because they don’t want you to waste your time either.
We love our jobs, otherwise we wouldn’t do it. But it can be hard to feel like you aren’t treated equitably across the board when you’re considered more of a “small group”, if you will. One of our biggest takeaways is when you have an issue, always try to have a solution because others will be more apt to help you solve the problem.
Keep blending,
Laura and Hayley
