Episode 12: Podcast Recap
Wrapping up the year in any classroom can be a challenge, but when you see students once a week? Even more interesting! In this episode we discuss different ways we like to or have finished the school year with students.
Some of our favorites are having them use up supplies that are broken or in bad shape, taking them outside to create, making big posters for them to color (these are great to hang up at the beginning of the school year to guide new students where to go and make the hallways fun and colorful).
We love showing students how to draw videos. Our favorite is Art for Kids Hub (they are amazing and make it sooooo simple). Pro tip: they have ones labeled with “preschool” that are perfect for kindergarten students. And by playing these videos, it gives you an excuse to turn the lights lower and have students be quiet so they can hear the instructions (shhhh…we won’t tell the kids that’s part of why we love the videos so much).
Another way to keep students busy and not have much out is giving them jobs to do. Obviously, not all students will be into this, but many WANT to help. If you make a list, they will knock it out.
Keep blending,
Laura and Hayley
