Episode 23 Podcast Recap

In this episode, we wanted to talk about how to go about ordering supplies for the art room. It’s one of those things that doesn’t really seem to be covered when you’re in college studying art education! So you get your first job, and you have no idea what to do in order to get supplies. The catalogs are huge and you don’t know where to start! 

Make sure you ask your school treasurer, your principal, or any type of supervisor you have, what the proper way to order supplies is. They can hopefully help you get started. There ar many variables when it comes to budget. You might get lucky with a big budget, have a small one, or maybe you have to supplement some how. 

Think about what essentials you need for the beginning of the year. We share what we like to have on hand as the basics. After you have those, you can take inventory and think about what the first projects will be and what you need for them. Think about how many times you will order throughout the year. Also consider things like consumables and non consumables. 

Also in this episode, we get a little off track and begin to talk about how you can be resourceful with funding your art room. BUT we will dive into that more in the next episode. For now, enjoy listening.
